3/30/25 The Milwaukee Brewers' best ERA belongs to someone who isn't even a pitcher. The Milwaukee Brewers gave up a lot of runs at Yankee Stadium this weekend. They gave up 15 home runs in three games, too. But there was just one player to appear on the mound in two games of the series and not allow a run. His name is Jake Bauers, and he's a first baseman. Bauers came in as the always-entertaining position player pitching twice at Yankee Stadium, and each time he threw a scoreless inning. The southpaw didn't notch any strikeouts, but the Brewers would happily take a couple of zeros on the scoreboard after such a bumpy weekend on the mound. Follow The Sporting News on WhatsApp Bauers actually drove in a run himself against the Yankees, so you can call him plus-1 for the series.

3/27/25 The Inside Story of Bob Uecker's Final Goodbye to the Press Box. Jeff Levering pretty much knew his broadcast partner of 10 years would never call another game after his Milwaukee Brewers blew a late lead in a deciding Oct. 3 wild card game to the New York Mets. Levering was one of the very few even within the Brewers organization who knew about Bob Uecker's two-year battle with small cell lung cancer, and it wasn't looking good. “We will chat with you again in the spring,” he told heartbroken Brewers fans, just minutes after watching back-to-back lead-taking homers from Jake Bauers and Sal Frelick in the seventh inning go to waste. Baseball will be back in Milwaukee – today, on Opening Day – but without its voice.
