4/20/25 Yankees' Max Fried loses no-hit bid vs. Rays when official scorer changes decision in 8th inning. Last May 11, Fried pitched seven hitless innings for Atlanta at the New York Mets' Citi Field and was removed after 109 pitches in a 4-1 win. Joe Jiménez worked around a pair of walks in the eighth before Raisel Iglesias retired the first two batters of the ninth. J.D. Martinez homered just over the wall in right field on the next pitch off Iglesias.

2/12/25 2025 Fantasy Baseball: Atlanta Braves Closer Depth Chart. Some of the fantasy market will dismiss Raisel Iglesias due to his sliding strikeout rate, but all of his pitches are challenging to hit. He has 30 saves or more in five seasons while never closing out 35 wins in a year in his career. His walk rate (1.7) was exceptional, but Iglesias had a sharp decline in his strikeout rate (26.3% - 8.8 per nine ~ 11.0 in 2023). Over his two seasons with Atlanta,

1/03/25 Braves primed to lure $65 million reliever to the East Coast. The Atlanta Braves have the aging but still superb Raisel Iglesias as their primary fireman but appear to be in the mix to sign one of the top bullpen arms still available this winter. David O'Brien of the Athletic notes that the Braves are a team that "lost two top setup men and hasn't spent any big money yet this winter, a team that has a serious high-leverage lefty need in its bullpen." O'Brien makes that reference with an eye on reliever Tanner Scott, who was traded from the Miami Marlins to the San Diego Padres last season and currently awaits on the free-agent market.

12/31/24 Braves predicted to acquire $64 million All-Star in free agency blockbuster. Are the Atlanta Braves simply lying in waiting to make their big move? No team can ever have enough bullpen help, and the Braves quietly had a rough season in close games last year. Apart from closer Raisel Iglesias, who had a spectacular 34-save season, most of the Braves' high-leverage arms struggled in one-run and tied games. Tanner Scott, the 2024 All-Star closer, would be an ideal fit for the Braves--and any team looking for bullpen help.

11/22/24 Braves predicted to target $8.4M two-time All-Star in surprise blockbuster trade. The Atlanta Braves would be wise to be opportunistic this winter. It's not that the Braves have a bad roster by any means--on the contrary, their roster is one of the best in Major League Baseball at full strength. One place the Braves could sneakily look to upgrade is the bullpen, which was anchored by a dominant closer in Raisel Iglesias this season, but was only 40 of 62 in total save opportunities. Acquiring another elite back-end reliever could make the Braves much more efficient in close games next season.

9/07/24 Braves' Raisel Iglesias brilliance draws 'Hall of Fame' take from Brian Snitker. The Atlanta Braves have a great deal of confidence in their rotation . The team believes they have the starting pitching necessary to make a deep postseason run this year. And while Atlanta views its starters as the key to playoff success, Braves manager Brian Snitker knows the team has something truly special in closer Raisel Iglesias. “He's been about as good as I've been around, in my tenure here as a third-base coach (and) managing. We've had some Hall-of-Fame quality closers here, and he's right there with all those guys, what he's doing right now,” Snitker said of Iglesias per The Athletic's David O'Brien on X. That's certainly high praise as Snitker has been with the team on and off since

8/24/24 Nationals look to play spoiler as Braves fight for postseason. In an up-and-down season for the Atlanta Braves, one constant has been closer Raisel Iglesias. The 34-year-old holds a career-best 1.39 ERA and has converted 28 of 30 save opportunities this season. Ahead of Saturday night's matchup against the visiting Washington Nationals, Atlanta manager Brian Snitker didn't mince words on the importance of the 10-year veteran to his club. "A lot of these closers are divas, and (Raisel) is the complete opposite of that," Snitker said following Friday's 3-2, 10-inning win over Washington, in which Raisel threw two innings and got the victory to improve to 3-1.

5/23/24 Will The Atlanta Braves Ever Throw Another No-Hitter?. Raisel Iglesias didn't record the first two outs in the ninth inning on May 11 in easy fashion. The Braves fans who'd already begun drowning out the Mets fans in the crowd of 38,919 began doing the Tomahawk Chop. The Braves, the epitome of sustained pitching excellence, were going to throw a no-hitter.

7/10/23 Carlos Estevez has been everything the Angels could've hoped for. Last season at the trade deadline the Los Angeles Angels decided to move on from Raisel Iglesias, effectively waving the white flag on another disappointing season without a playoff appearance. This allowed the Angels to get rid of his remaining contract of 3 years and $16 million per, and gain some flexibility for the team. This off-season Carlos Estevez was signed on for a two-year deal worth $6.75 million annually to come to Anaheim. Coming off a solid season for the Colorado Rockies logging 62 games with a 3.47 ERA, Phil Nevin decided to try him out for the closer role, and it has worked amazingly.
