4/25/25 Dave Dombrowski's Jeff Hoffman message challenged by league sources. The Philadelphia Phillies hold a winning record, but a sweep at the hands of the New York Mets is raising some serious questions. After winning just one playoff game in 2024, president of baseball operations Dave Dombrowski opted to keep the majority of the roster intact as constructed. The significant winter additions included starter Jesús Luzardo, outfielder Max Kepler and reliever Jordan Romano. Romano holds a 13.50 ERA in 9.1 innings so far this season, while the Phillies bullpen has the second-highest ERA in all of Major League Baseball at 5.56.

4/09/25 Could Phillies actually move on from $10 million outfielder?. The Philadelphia Phillies wanted to add some outfield reinforcements this past offseason and one move that they made was signing veteran outfielder Max Kepler to a one-year deal worth $10 million. It's a little early to be thinking about what subtractions the team could make this season, but FanSided's Kevin Stephan floated him as a player who may not make it with the team past the month of May.

4/01/25 Max Kepler is making a good impression with the Phillies: 'It sure is fun to play here'. Max Kepler jogged out for the top of the ninth inning on Monday to an ovation from the fans behind the left field wall. Standing in the Phillies clubhouse afterward, Kepler said it was one of the few moments he could recall clearly from the 6-1 home-opening win over the Rockies. The home run capped a 3-for-4 day for Kepler, who signed a one-year deal with the Phillies this winter after spending the first decade of his major league career in Minnesota. Kepler then singled in the seventh inning, and teed off in a back-to-back homer barrage with Nick Castellanos in the eighth.

3/26/25 'Experts' predict where the Phillies will finish. During all that, a very interesting season will play out for the Philadelphia Phillies. Here are predictions from staffers of the MediaNews Group. As for key additions, they signed Max Kepler, who in nine full seasons with the Minnesota Twins averaged .237 with a .746 OPS and 161 home runs, to take Hays' spot in the outfield. The Phillies also acquired left-handed starting pitcher Jesus Luzardo from Miami for a pair of prospects.

3/24/25 How much can Phillies' outfield improve in '25?. Max Kepler wasn't a huge, splashy addition but should help a group of outfielders that struggled offensively in 2024. He's not the only key to the Phillies' outfield, though.

3/21/25 Now with the Phillies, Max Kepler remembers time in Minnesota fondly. CLEARWATER, Fla. — For more than half his life, the Minnesota Twins organization was all Max Kepler knew. The Twins took a chance on a teenager out of Germany, nurtured and developed him and then handed him the reins in right field for nearly a decade. But as the 2024 season was winding down, with the Twins in the midst of a collapse, Kepler could do nothing but watch, and he seemed to have an ...

The Philadelphia Phillies have had quite a few injuries pile up in recent days, between Max Kepler (back), Brandon Marsh (knee) and Matt Strahm (shoulder). 3/18/25 Phillies notes: Injuries, outfield, bench, Opening Day. With just seven days of spring training games to go, the Phillies have nearly reached the end of their stay this year in Clearwater, which means one more week of crossing fingers for manager Rob Thomson. On Sunday in Sarasota, starting outfielders Max Kepler and Brandon Marsh left early for precautionary reasons. Kepler collided with the wall in left field on a catch, though it didn't look violent. Marsh exited with a bruised left knee.

3/14/25 Philadelphia Phillies Superstar Still Content With Moving to the Outfield if Needed. The Philadelphia Phillies have had a somewhat quiet offseason, mostly looking to make moves that increase the floor of the team rather than the ceiling. With additions like Jesús Luzardo, Max Kepler, and Jordan Romano, they have done well to improve on positions of need, and now they look ahead to the 2025 season where they have an opportunity to make a postseason run once again. The intriguing thing about this offseason for the Phillies has been their connections to some of the top free agents who they ultimately did not get, namely Pete Alonso. With their interest in Alonso being substantial for a time, their current first baseman Bryce Harper made it clear that he would be willing to move to the outfield if it meant the team could add more talent.

2/22/25 Phillies can't hold early lead as they drop Spring Training opener to Detroit. The Phillies jumped out to a 5-0 lead, but Detroit scored twice in the eighth to tie it and then walked it off in the bottom of the ninth in the Spring Training opener for both teams on Saturday at Joker Marchant Stadium. Max Kepler hit a two-run single in the third and Buddy Kennedy drilled a two-run home run to left field in the fifth for Philadelphia. Nabil Crismatt and Alan Rangel each pitched a pair of scoreless inning to start the game for the Phillies, who left most of their major league arms did not make the trip from Clearwater, Fla.

2/21/25 Phillies listed as top landing spot for Cardinals $8.2 million All-Star closer. The Philadelphia Phillies had a relatively quiet offseason, save for the signing of Max Kepler and trade for Jesus Luzardo. It may be a bit early to discuss the trade deadline, but they could be one of the most active teams when that period arrives in the month of July. Carlos Estevez and Jeff Hoffman are both gone, but All-Star closer Ryan Helsley should be available, as the St. Louis Cardinals are not expected to contend in 2025.

2/20/25 Wild blockbuster trade idea would land Phillies $315 million Red Sox All-Star. The Philadelphia Phillies have been quiet this offseason, save for the signing of Max Kepler and trade for Jesus Luzardo. Zachary D. Rymer of Bleacher Report proposed the wild idea of Philadelphia trading for Rafael Devers and sending Alec Bohm, Nick Castellanos and Aidan Miller to the Boston Red Sox.

1/28/25 Philadelphia Phillies Can Turn Offseason Around With Trade for High-Profile Arm. The offseason so far for the Philadelphia Phillies has been middling, to say the least, though they have not been completely silent like other teams in MLB. Next, they added Max Kepler, an oft-injured outfielder who many are expecting far too much from considering he has not played 130 or more games in consecutive years since 2019 and has done so in any singular season exactly once in that span. The best move so far was the acquisition of Jesus Luzardo in a trade with the Miami Marlins, solidifying the rotation as the best in MLB, and moving Taijuan Walker to the bullpen full-time. It could be surpassed as the best move, however, if the Phillies were to add even more depth to their bullpen in a trade with the San Diego Padres for pitcher Michael King.

1/10/25 Philadelphia Phillies Linked To Los Angeles Dodgers Fan Favorite Utility Man. The Philadelphia Phillies are in desperate need of changes in the lineup. After a third consecutive playoff push went up in flames largely due to the bats going into early hibernation at the most inopportune times, Dave Dombrowski has been open about the fact that he was planning on making changes, but to this point nothing major has occurred. Outfield in particular is a major need with an already very thin unit adding just the underwhelming Max Kepler to this point. Perhaps the Phillies could land a player who would be able to help both in the outfield and in the infield as a super utility type.
