4/17/25 Blue Jays urged to swing blockbuster trade for $56 million Cy Young Award winner. The Toronto Blue Jays are off to an 11-8 start to the season. However, they may have to swing a blockbuster trade if they want to win the American League East. The Blue Jays rotation features Kevin Gausman, José Berríos, Chris Bassit and Max Scherzer. However, with Scherzer on the injured list, the team might want to explore adding another reliable arm to the rotation. FanSided's Baron Dionis urged the team to swing a blockbuster trade for Miami Marlins ace Sandy Alcántara. "If the Blue Jays trade for Alcantara, the Blue Jays could then bump (Easton) Lucas to the bullpen, where he'd provide some much-needed left-handed depth," wrote Dionis. "The Blue Jays' high-leverage guys have been great,

4/11/25 Red Sox reactions: Defense commits 5 errors, bats bottom out against lowly ChiSox. CHICAGO — Instant reactions as the Red Sox (7-8) look largely inept in an 11-1 loss to the White Sox, a team that had lost eight in a row entering Friday's series opener at Rate Field: 1) It's one thing to struggle offensively against the likes of experienced veterans like Toronto's José Berríos, Kevin Gausman and Chris Bassitt. But 28-year-old White Sox starter Davis Martin entered his Friday outing with a 4.71 ERA in just 27 big league games (21 starts). That mattered little to a Red Sox offense that remains stuck in the mud — and bottomed out in the series opener. Martin dominated the Sox through his first six innings, allowing four hits and striking out six. He needed just 83 pitches through

4/10/25 Toronto Blue Jays SP Kevin Gausman Throws Historic Gem Against Boston Red Sox. Kevin Gausman has been hit-or-miss against the Boston Red Sox over the course of his decade in the AL East, but the Toronto Blue Jays righty turned in a historic outing at Fenway Park on Wednesday. While the Red Sox scraped across one unearned run in the first inning thanks to a throwing error and sacrifice fly, their offense was otherwise confounded by Gausman. The veteran racked up 10 strikeouts, giving up four hits and zero walks in his 8.0 innings of action. According to Sportsnet Stats, Gausman became the first pitcher in Blue Jays franchise history with zero earned runs, zero walks and 10-plus strikeouts in a start against the Red Sox.

2/16/25 Max-imum Gains: Veteran Blue Jays right-hander Scherzer continues to evolve. Blue Jays right-hander Kevin Gausman shakes out his arm when he thinks back to stepping into the batter's box to face now-teammate Max Scherzer. Gausman, who was with Baltimore at the time of the 2018 interleague series against Washington, remembers specific details from the matchup. "I struck out on a change-up and I thought I hyperextended my elbow," Gausman said. Scherzer has made a Hall of Fame career out of keeping batters guessing.

1/12/25 Kevin Gausman Projected For Steady 2025 Season Atop Toronto Blue Jays' Rotation. The Toronto Blue Jays are still in the market for a pitcher to round out their starting rotation, but for the time being, Kevin Gausman is slated to be their ace once again in 2025. Gausman was a stud in his first two seasons north of the border – placing ninth in AL Cy Young voting in 2022 and third in 2023 – before taking a bit of a step back in 2024. While Gausman may post slightly better numbers in 2025, he still isn't expected to return to his early 30s self this season. FanGraphs has been slowly rolling out its ZiPS projections for 2025, and Dan Szymborski wrote up a piece diving into the Blue Jays' outlook on Friday.

1/02/25 Blue Jays predicted to reunite with 2-time All-Star in trade with Yankees. The Toronto Blue Jays have not found much success on the open market. However, they have found success in trading for star players. They could bring back a familiar face through a trade with the New York Yankees. The Blue Jays could try to bring in another starter to add to their group of Kevin Gausman, José Berríos and Chris Bassitt. NorthJersey.com's Pete Caldera predicted the New York Yankees would trade Marcus Stroman to the Blue Jays. "Seeking to unload Marcus Stroman's $18 million contract for '25, GM Brian Cashman trades the right-hander back to the willing-to-spend Toronto Blue Jays for two lottery pick prospects," wrote Caldera. Stroman spent the first five and a half seasons with the

Toronto Blue Jays pitcher Kevin Gausman took a swipe at MLB Commissioner Rob Manfred on Tuesday as the baseball boss talked about marketing the sport through starting pitchers. 12/17/24 Blue Jays' Kevin Gausman slams Rob Manfred over idea to change starting pitching rules. Rob Manfred has no shortage of ideas. And the baseball-watching world shows no shortage of derision. 12/12/24 Toronto Blue Jays projected pitching rotation for Opening Day. The Toronto Blue Jays are gearing up for next season, with five starting pitchers seemingly on track to make the final roster. While the Jays haven't always had consistent performers throughout the lineup, it's hard to criticize Kevin Gausman's body of work. Finishing in the top 10 in Cy Young voting in each of his first two years in Toronto, Gausman enters 2025 as the team's ace once again, and the most likely candidate to be its Opening Day starter.

12/11/24 Blue Jays speculated 'dream rotation' includes blockbuster for $130 million All-Star. The Toronto Blue Jays believed their rotation would be a strength in 2024, and they wound up disappointed. While the Blue Jays' starting pitchers all had their moments, the combination of Kevin Gausman, Chris Bassitt, José Berríos, and Yusei Kikuchi didn't live up to their standards from 2023. Meanwhile, Alek Manoah's future as a big-leaguer is in peril and Bowden Francis has to prove his hot second half was no fluke. In short, though their lineup is also short on firepower, the Blue Jays would be wise to seek starting pitching this winter.
