Arizona's Eugenio Suarez belted a grand slam off Mark Leiter, Jr. in the 8th inning to lift the Diamondbacks past the Yankees, 7-5. The Yanks hit three more homers to bring their season total to 18 over 4 games, or, an average of 4 1/2 ding-dongs per game. During spring training, the New York Yankees announced they would no longer play Frank Sinatra's "(Theme From) New York, New York" following home losses. The Arizona Diamondbacks did enough to ensure other songs would be heard after the final out the past two days at Yankee Stadium. The Diamondbacks are going for their fourth straight win after starting the series with a pair of close victories in chilly conditions. After rallying on Eugenio Suarez's grand slam in the eighth inning for a 7-5 victory on Tuesday when the game-time temperature was 50 degrees, the Diamondbacks clinched the series victory with a 4-3 victory on a night that was 8 degrees cooler. Suarez leads the majors with five homers through his first five games, and the Arizona Diamondbacks hope to see their third baseman produce another big swing Wednesday night when they visit the New York Yankees. Despite finishing 89-73, the team narrowly missed the postseason and were succeeded as National League champions by the Los Angeles Dodgers, who went on to win another title. There are certain questions that need to be answered though, one of which centers around third baseman Eugenio Suarez. Arizona Diamondbacks third baseman Eugenio Suarez completed his 2024 season turnaround with a milestone that seemed impossible to achieve back in June. Suarez, right after belting a foul ball to the second deck just left of the pole, crushed a fastball over the line in center field on Sunday, Arizona's regular season finale against the San Diego Padres. There was a little something extra in his home run trot, beyond the typical goggles flash and heart-shaped hands at home plate. Eugenio Suarez smacked a bases-loaded single off the right field wall as the final hero as the Arizona Diamondbacks beat the Milwaukee Brewers 11-10 in 10 innings in a wild back-and-forth thriller Sunday in the finale of a three-game series in Phoenix. Milwaukee went ahead 10-8 on a two-run triple by Jackson Chourio in the top of the 10th before Arizona scored three runs off Jared Koenig in the bottom of the inning. Adrian Del Castillo opened it with an RBI single and Koenig loaded the bases with nobody out before hitting Christian Walker with a pitch to tie the score at 10.
