8/03/25 Red Sox Break Nearly Three-Month-Long Streak Held by Astros Starter Framber Valdez. The Houston Astros have been able to put together quite an impressive pitching staff, and it is headlined by two absolutely outstanding arms, Hunter Brown and Framber Valdez. Both pitchers have plenty of time left to build upon previous success, and that only means more improvement from the franchise. Both pitchers have had extremely strong 2025 seasons in their own way, and Valdez has been showing this level of success for years now.

7/23/25 Astros-Marlins trade idea sends former Cy Young winner to Houston. The Houston Astros have found a way to stay atop the American League West despite dealing with numerous injuries. At 59-42, the Astros hold a five-game lead over the Seattle Mariners for first place in the AL West and have won three games in a row. In order to keep winning, the Astros should look to acquire a quality starting pitcher at the trade deadline. Hunter Brown and Framber Valdez have been excellent, but starting pitching is one of Houston's top needs.

7/20/25 Astros, Mariners send out All-Star pitchers in AL West battle. Games just mean more after the All-Star break. After losing Friday night in the opener of a three-game series in Seattle, the Houston Astros altered their pitching rotation to send All-Star Hunter Brown (9-4, 2.43 ERA) to the mound Sunday afternoon. On Saturday, the Mariners announced they'd start their own All-Star right-hander, Bryan Woo (8-4, 2.75), as they go for a sweep of the American League West-leading Astros. Houston's division lead is down to three games after Seattle rookie Cole Young singled with one out in the bottom of the 11th inning to give the Mariners a 7-6 victory Saturday.

7/18/25 Astros predicted to trade for 3.34 ERA Diamondbacks righty starter. While the Houston Astros are in the market for a left-handed bat, and also looking for upgrades at left field and second base, there's another area of the roster that is a sneaky big need. With Hunter Brown and Framber Valdez, the Astros don't need an ace, but they do have a clear need for a strong number-three starter. With postseason series going at least three games, the Astros need another strong starter to feel comfortable in the postseason. Chandler Rome of The Athletic predicts that the Astros and Dana Brown will make such a move.
