8/04/25 SF Giants fall to Pirates as Rodríguez blows first save as closer. Randy Rodríguez blew his first save since being elevated to the closer role, allowing two runs in the bottom of the ninth as the Giants fell to the Pittsburgh Pirates 5-4 on Monday night at PNC Park. Rodríguez began the bottom of the ninth inning by walking Andrew McCutchen, and the Pirates sent in Alexander Canario to pinch-run. Rodriguez then plunked Jack Suwinski, giving the Pirates runners on first and second with one out.

7/29/25 Pittsburgh Pirates Former MVP Ties Hall of Famer on Historic List. The Pittsburgh Pirates beat the San Francisco Giants 6-5 on Monday night at Oracle Park, improving to 45-62 on the season. Andrew McCutchen went 1-for-5 with a home run in the win, also scoring a run and driving in two. The home run was his 10th of the year and tied him with Hall of Famer Willie McCovey on a historic list. 7/28/25 Andrew McCutchen's Late HR Pushes Pirates Past Giants. Andrew McCutchen added another great moment onto his Pittsburgh Pirates career as he hit a late home run in the 6-4 win over the San Francisco Giants at Oracle Park. The Pirates make it three straight wins, taking the last two games vs. the Arizona Diamondbacks at PNC Park, July 26-27, and six wins in the past seven games, with a sweep of the Detroit Tigers at home, July 21-23. Pittsburgh improves to 45-62 overall and 14-37 on the road, while San Francisco drops to 54-53 overall and 28-24 at home. Second baseman Nick Gonzales took a first pitch changeup from Giants left-handed starting pitcher Carson Whisenhunt and sent it 390 feet into the left field seats, putting the Pirates up 1-0 on the solo home run in the top of the first inning.

7/22/25 Andrew McCutchen Surpasses Pirates Legend on All-Time List. Pittsburgh Pirates designated hitter Andrew McCutchen achieved another feat that put him ahead of a franchise legend in his most recent outing. McCutchen hit a leadoff single in the bottom of the fourth inning off of Detroit Tigers left-handed pitcher Dietrich Enns in the 3-0 shutout victory on July 21 at PNC Park.

7/09/25 Pirates Come Up Short vs. Royals, Suffer Sweep. The Pittsburgh Pirates battled back from an early deficit, but still missed out on a victory, losing 4-3 to the Kansas City Royals at Kauffman Stadium. This loss makes it a sweep vs. the Royals, as they lost 9-3 on July 7 and also 4-3 on July 8. This extends the Pirates' losing streak to six games, as they suffered a sweep vs. the Seattle Mariners at T-Mobile Park, July 4-6, their second longest losing streak of the season. Designated hitter Andrew McCutchen singled in the top of the first inning.
