7/28/25 Ex-Mets starter Max Scherzer clears the air after unexpected confrontation with teammate. When Toronto Blue Jays starter Eric Lauer appeared with a busted lip before cameras last week, none were to surprised when he accused teammate Max Scherzer of giving him “six stitches” for messing with him on his start day. The unwritten rule stands across the game: DO NOT talk to the starting pitcher on his start day. “I did not punch Eric Lauer in the face,” Scherzer told the host of Blue Jays Central pregame, Hazel Mae on Saturday, laughing.

7/24/25 Eric Lauer's recent praise ought to frighten Yankees fans. After making a statement in their series win over the New York Yankees, the Toronto Blue Jays continued their winning ways Thursday. The team began a four-game stint against the AL Central-leading Tigers and easily dispatched Detroit 11-4 behind another strong performance from Eric Lauer. The big lefty drew praise from infielder Ernie Clement after stifling the Tigers.
