7/04/25	An Ode to Raiders TE Michael Mayer. There was a reason the Las Vegas Raiders not only drafted tight end Michael Mayer two offseasons ago, but traded up in the NFL Draft to do so. Mayer was one of the top two tight ends in the 2023 NFL Draft and rightfully so after an outstanding career at Notre Dame. Mayer finished his career at Notre Dame as the storied football program's all-time leader in receptions, receiving yards, and touchdowns for a tight end. 6/24/25	Raiders' Michael Mayer Looking to Bounce Back in 2025. The Las Vegas Raiders had envisioned Michael Mayer to be their tight end of the future after a rookie season in which he showed flashes of what he can do with the ball in his hands. Despite how much of a good impression he left on the Raiders organization, having him on the roster didn't prevent them from drafting Brock Bowers when they had the chance in the 2024 draft. This was a smart move on behalf of the Raiders, as he was the best player available and ended up becoming an Offensive Rookie of the Year finalist. Heading into the 2023 NFL Draft, Michael Mayer was one of the top tight ends available and a potential first-round pick. Mayer had a disappointing rookie season, totaling just 27 catches for 304 yards and two touchdowns. The Raiders' selection of Brock Bowers in the first round of the 2024 draft, while proven to be an excellent choice, diminished Mayer's chances of having a better second season.
