7/24/25 Reds still have high hopes under Francona. Much was expected this season when two-time World Series champion manager Terry Francona came out of retirement to take over a team that appeared to have plenty of talent, but just didn't have the right person to lead it. It hasn't been easy, but the Cincinnati Reds did finish 42-39 through the first 81 games and were still above. Injuries have been a definite issue, in addition to struggles at the plate by many of the Reds. One-time University of Virginia southpaw Andrew Abbott has been the leader on the mound for Cincinnati, earning a spot in the Major League All-Star game.
