On Tuesday, July 29, 2025, New York Mets outfielder Juan Soto exited the team's 7-1 loss to the San Diego Padres at Petco Park after fouling a ball off the top of his left foot in the fourth inning. The foul ball hit Soto near the toe area. Mets trainer Joe Golia came out to assess the injury, performing an on-field examination for signs of structural damage. After the initial evaluation, Soto returned to the batter's box and completed his plate appearance by grounding out to second baseman Jake Cronenworth, who made a diving stop.

7/24/25 Calls Mount for Mets to Make Francisco Lindor Move After Unfortunate History Surfaces. The New York Mets are no strangers to struggling stars this season. Slugger Juan Soto hit .232 in April and .219 in May after signing a record 15-year, $765 million deal with the team in the offseason. Now, shortstop Francisco Lindor has gone cold at the plate.

7/23/25 Insider proposes blockbuster trade between Mets and Yankees. The New York Mets could be one or two shrewd trade deadline moves away from reasserting themselves as World Series contenders this season. While the Mets were one of baseball's best teams for the first couple of months, their well-documented struggles since that point have made many question whether they're capable of another deep playoff run. What's for sure is that the Mets will be able to improve their chances by bolstering their bullpen via trade over the next week or so. The Mets took one superstar from their cross-town rival Yankees this past offseason (albeit via free agency) with Juan Soto.

7/23/25 Washington Nationals Pitcher Tabbed 'Best Fit' For Playoff Contender At Trade Deadline. 7/23/25 Reese Kaplan -- Who Should or Should Not Be Future Mets?. You can visit any number of media outlets these days profiling what the Mets will, could or should do to improve their stagnation that's existed pretty much since the season began. Instead, let's take a look at the current roster in the majors and in the near minors to see who is here, who will no longer be here when the season ends and who may be arriving (slim chance) in 2025 or more likely in 2026. Juan Soto and Brandon Nimmo are givens. Beyond Jeff McNeil morphing into an outfielder the rest of the outfield roster is filled with either guys hurt, ones who can't field or ones who simply can't perform.

7/22/25 David Stearns reveals Mets' trade deadline plan: Who could New York target?. In hiring president of baseball operations David Stearns, the New York Mets paired small-market ingenuity with a runaway payroll to create one of the most dangerous teams in the sport. This isn't the 2022 Mets team that bought 100 wins before falling flat and collapsing a year later. The occasional splurge on Juan Soto doesn't hurt, either. Stearns will spend when necessary, but he's principled with the checks he asks owner Steve Cohen to cut.

7/22/25 Will Nationals Shockingly Consider Trading Their Best Player to Red Sox?. The Washington Nationals are still in the middle of their post-Juan Soto rebuild, meaning the most important players to keep on their roster are young players and prospects who have high ceilings and room to grow. MacKenzie Gore fits that description very well, and might even be the best player on the team overall. Bleacher Report's Zachary D. Rymer put out his list of "8 MLB Trade Predictions Ahead of 2025 Deadline", proposing some potential suitors for big-name players who could be on the move.

7/22/25 Juan Soto Just Joined Babe Ruth and Jimmie Foxx in Powerful Baseball History. The New York Mets beat the Los Angeles Angels 7-5 on Monday night at Citi Field. With the win, New York is now 57-44, but they remain in second place in the National League East. Juan Soto went 1-for-4 with two RBIs in the win, raising his average to .256 and his RBI total to 59. IMAGN IMAGES via Reuters Connect The Mets need pitching, that is clear. Relief help and a starter. No argument there. But it isn't their biggest need. The area that David Stearns has to upgrade most is his lineup. That was again evident Sunday as the Mets had to scratch to avoid a home sweep against the Reds, scoring the go-ahead run in a 3-2 win on a Luis Torrens fielder's choice when Juan Soto made a gutsy dash home .
