3/17/25 | New York Giants are one of NFL's biggest free agency spenders. Since NFL free agency began last Wednesday afternoon, it didn't seem as if the New York Giants had made much of a dent in the marketplace. Fans and pundits have criticized general manager Joe Schoen's performance thus far as he has yet to add a veteran quarterback and an upgrade along the interior offensive line. Over the Cap notes that the Giants have spent $193.5 million so far this offseason, the third most in the NFL behind Minnesota ($245.4 million) and New England ($238.5 million). Schoen has re-signed many of his own free agents to new deals since the end of this year's Super Bowl: long snapper Casey Kreiter, tight end Chris Manhertz, quarterback Tommy DeVito, punter Jamie Gillan, wide receiver Darius Slayton, kick returner Ihmir Smith-Marsette, linebacker Tomon Fox, and offensive linemen Greg Van Roten and Aaron Stinnie. Veteran tight end Chris Manhertz capped off a solid 2024 season by being named the New York Giants' by Pro Football Focus (PFF). Standing at an imposing 6-6 and 235 pounds, Chris Manhertz brings a physical presence to the field that has been key to his role as a blocking tight end. Right tackle Mike McClinchey was ruled out Friday from the Broncos' season finale at Las Vegas, denying Denver the chance to have its entire offensive line intact from start to finish for the first time since 2011. “We've had our fair share of injuries but not a lot,” coach Sean Payton said Friday, when he also ruled out tight end Chris Manhertz (illness) from Sunday's game against the Raiders (7-9). Sean Payton's team had no injury limitations for Thursday's practice on its 53-man roster. Denver had 51 full participants and the only two players who didn't practice — defensive lineman Mike Purcell and tight end Chris Manhertz — were held out on veteran rest days rather than because of injury. The Broncos had several players limited Wednesday, including some key ones like All-Pro cornerback Pat Surtain II (knee), defensive lineman Zach Allen (elbow) and right tackle Mike McGlinchey (knee), but they were all fully back in action Thursday.
