7/27/25	Giants reach historic low not seen in nearly a century. The San Francisco Giants haven't been very good coming out of the All-Star break. This loss seals the series sweep in the Mets' favor, plunging the Giants further down their misery. The Giants' offense has ranked 24th since coming out of the All-Star break, scoring 37 runs in nine games, but it's in the Mets series where they simply couldn't make their opportunities count. On Sunday, they went hitless in seven at-bats with runners in scoring position, with Matt Chapman's two home runs driving in their three runs on the night (his two-run shot in the bottom of the fifth was with Willy Adames at first base). The San Francisco Giants have had a competitive start to the 2025 campaign, and it has a lot to do with key players stepping up in important moments. While not all of their success has been surprising, Matt Chapman is playing like himself, and Logan Webb has continued to be an ace; there have been some more shocking standouts through the first half of 2025. During a pre-game session with media on Friday, manager Bob Melvin told reporters that the expectation is that Chapman will be active for Saturday's game in Sacramento. 7/04/25	Giants make huge Matt Chapman injury announcement for series vs. Athletics. Matt Chapman is slated to rejoin the San Francisco Giants on Saturday in Sacramento. It'll be the second game of a series against his former team, the Athletics. Beat reporter Susan Slusser reported that Chapman played in one Triple-A game on Friday before traveling to join the team and get back into MLB action on Saturday. 7/03/25	SF Giants' Chapman to play rehab game, could return this weekend. By weekend's end, third baseman Matt Chapman could finally be back from the injured list. Chapman, who hasn't played since June 8, checked off another box in his return from right hand inflammation by taking batting practice at Chase Field prior to the Giants' series finale against the Arizona Diamondbacks. As he walked off the field, Chapman told reporters that he plans to play a rehab game with Triple-A Sacramento on Friday as the Giants begin their three-game series against the Athletics at Sutter Health Park in West Sacramento. There's no guarantee Matt Chapman will return from his right hand injury prior to the All-Star Break, but on Tuesday, the third baseman took two important steps toward coming back before the season's midway point. Prior to Tuesday's game against the Miami Marlins, Chapman took 20 swings off of a batting tee and played catch for the first time since landing on the injured list two weeks ago. Manager Bob Melvin said Chapman progressed to swinging and throwing “a little bit” sooner than expected, adding that it's realistic for Chapman to return prior to the All-Star Break. One of the key pieces--if not the key piece--of the Matt Chapman deal with the Toronto Blue Jays is reportedly set to miss the remainder of the 2025 season after undergoing hip surgery on Friday, June 13. The surgery has been reported by his agent Nate Heisler of KLUTCH Sports. Hoglund made his MLB debut on May 2 in Miami against the Marlins and ended up making six starts during the month, totaling 32 1/3 innings of work with a 6.40 ERA and a 1.52 WHIP. 6/12/25	Giants Manager Says the Team is 'Lucky' to Have Casey Schmitt Amid Infield Injury. The San Francisco Giants have had an outstanding 2025 season so far, and much of it has been due to their left-side infield defense, which, between Matt Chapman and Willy Adames, has been outstanding. Unfortunately, Chapman sprained his hand recently and was placed on the 10-day injured list, which is no doubt a tough issue to overcome for a team that is riding high on a 40-28 record currently. Ultimately, the next man up was Casey Schmitt, a utility infielder who had recently come back from an injury of his own, only a few weeks prior. Replacing a multi-time Platinum Glove Award winner and former All-Star is no easy task, both from the team's perspective and from the perspective of the player who has to try and replicate that level of success. A day after third baseman Matt Chapman landed on the injured list due to right-hand inflammation, the Giants placed catcher Patrick Bailey on the 10-day IL with a neck strain. Bailey, 26, was in Tuesday's starting lineup in Colorado against the Rockies before being scratched due to the neck issue.
