Player News
Red Sox, Astros benches clear after Hector Neris screams at coach; what happened?. Tempers flared momentarily after the seventh inning of the Red Sox' 7-3 win over the Astros on Saturday with benches — and the bullpens — both clearing. Reliever Hector Neris appeared to direct some displeasure toward Red Sox third base coach Kyle Hudson after Carlos Narváez grounded out to shortstop to end the inning and after Hudson responded to an animated Neris, players and coaches poured out of both dugouts.

Red Sox Receive Tremendous News On Injured Contributor. The Boston Red Sox have been without one of their most impactful relievers for two months, but it doesn't look like they'll need to wait much longer for his return. Justin Slaten's unidentified injury has been… well, identified. Slaten, who has not appeared in a game since May 28, had been dealing with an oddly mysterious neck/shoulder injury that caused him to be shut down from his throwing program on numerous occasions. Slaten, however, shared he feels “back to normal” on Saturday, according to WEEI's Rob Bradford.

After falling behind early, Red Sox offense erupts for fourth straight win. The Sox beat the Houston Astros, 7-3, on Saturday before a sellout crowd of 36,215. Trevor Story had one of three homers and drove in three runs as the Sox improved to 36-21 at home with victories in 20 of their last 25 games. The Sox have won four straight overall and six of seven. The early innings were eventful, a nice way of saying both starting pitchers were bad.
