8/24/10 The Cardinals placed left-handed reliever Dennys Reyes on the 15-day disabled list on Tuesday, retroactive to Aug. 16, with a left elbow strain. The club called up right-hander Fernando Salas from Triple-A Memphis to take Reyes' roster spot.
8/16/10The Cardinals activated right-hander Kyle Lohse from the 60-day disabled list in order to start on Sunday. Lohse had not pitched since May 22, the result of a right forearm injury that had bothered him since early in 2009. To make room for Lohse on the active roster, St. Louis optioned right-handed reliever Fernando Salas to Triple-A Memphis.
8/04/10Right-hander Fernando Salas(notes) was recalled Wednesday from Triple-A Memphis to replace Motte, also a right-hander and one of the hardest-throwing pitchers in the major leagues. The 25-year-old Salas was recalled for the fifth time this season and is 0-0 with a 2.31 ERA and nine strikeouts in 11 2-3 innings.

5/28/10With a taxed bullpen due to Wednesday's 13-inning game, the Cardinals called on right-hander Fernando Salas for bullpen reinforcement. Salas' stay, however, will be short-lived. The club purchased Salas' contract from Triple-A Memphis in the corresponding roster move to putting Kyle Lohse on the 15-day disabled list, because of an immediate need for another reliever. But with Lohse's turn in the rotation coming up on Saturday in Chicago, the team will call up a starting pitcher to take that spot. "[Salas] is here for a couple of days," manager Tony La Russa said before Thursday's game. "He'll protect us after last night."
