Mitch Jones (OF - PIT)
7/30/10 - The Atlanta Braves have traded minor league outfielder Mitch Jones to the Pittsburgh Pirates for cash. The 32-year-old outfielder is batting .250 for Triple-A Gwinnett with 18 homers and 45 RBIs in 89 games. He will go to Pittsburgh’s Triple-A team in Indianapolis.

7/30/10 - Yankees acquired Berkman for two minor leaguers. He will take over as the full time DH.

7/30/10 - SI.com's Jon Heyman reports that the Yankees have acquired Kearns for a PTBNL. He will play a bench role.

Jesus Feliciano (OF - NYM)
7/30/10 - Mets recalled Feliciano from Triple-A.

Jason Bay (OF - NYM)
7/30/10 - Mets placed Bay on the 15-day disabled list with a concussion.

Mike Jacobs (1B - TOR)
7/30/10 - Jacobs was traded to the Blue Jays for a player to be named later. He was at the Mets' AAA affiliate and will be assigned to Toronto's AAA affiliate.

Cristian Guzman (SS - TEX)
7/30/10 - Guzman was traded to the Rangers in exchange for two minor league pitchers. Guzman is expected to fill in at second base with Ian Kinsler on the DL.

Andrew Bailey (P - OAK)
7/30/10 - Bailey was placed on the DL with a strained intercostal muscle. The move is retroactive to July 21st.

Brett Anderson (P - OAK)
7/30/10 - Anderson was activated from the DL Friday and is the scheduled starter against the White Sox.

Nick Stavinoha (OF - STL)
7/30/10 - Nick Stavinoha began a rehabilitation assignment at Triple-A Memphis on Monday, going 1-for-3 with a double and a walk as Memphis' designated hitter. Stavinoha is recuperating from a shoulder injury

Kyle Lohse (P - STL)
7/30/10 - Kyle Lohse pronounced his first Minor League rehabilitation start a success on Tuesday, a day after he lasted three innings for Triple-A Memphis. Lohse threw 43 pitches, 29 of them strikes, allowing two runs (one earned) on two hits. He struck out three and didn't issue a walk, but mostly he felt good the whole time. The forearm injury that plagued him for a year is gone, he said. "I need to make sure I'm ready," Lohse said. "I'm not going to rush it, but everything felt good. I felt like I could keep going. It wasn't like I went out and got tired." It appears that Lohse will make two more rehab starts, with the next one coming on Saturday.

7/30/10 - Mills was optioned back to AAA.

Jeff Larish (DH - DET)
7/30/10 - Larish was designated for assignment to make room for Jeff Frazier. Larish became expendable after the Tigers acquired Jhonny Peralta to play third base.

Jeff Frazier (OF - DET)
7/30/10 - Frazier was recalled from AAA and will should see a fair amount of playing time in the Detroit outfield. The 27-year old Frazier was batting .273 at AAA with 23 HR and 68 RBI.

Andrew Bailey (P - OAK)
7/30/10 - Bailey has been sidelined since July 20th and was diagnosed Thursday with a intercostal muscle (rib) strain. Bailey will likely land on the DL Friday.

Brett Wallace (3B - HOU)
7/30/10 - Wallace was traded to the Astros for Anthony Gose.

Chris Davis (1B - TEX)
7/30/10 - Davis was optioned back to AAA with the acquisition of Jorge Cantu.

Josh Bell (3B - BAL)
7/30/10 - Bell was recalled from AAA and is expected to be the everyday third baseman for the Orioles with the trade of Miguel Tejada. Bell is 5-19 (.263) in two stints with Baltimore this season but saw very little playing time.

John Lannan (P - WSH)
7/30/10 - Lannan will be called up from the minors to take Stephen Strasburg's place in the starting rotation.

Kyle Kendrick (P - PHI)
7/30/10 - Kyle Kendrick got the spot start Thursday taking the place of J.A. Happ who was traded earlier in the day. Kendrick limited the D'backs to 1 ER on 4 hits while striking out 5 over 6.1 innings but was let down by the bullpen. With Roy Oswalt in town, Kendrick will become a 5th starter and long relief pitcher for the Phillies.

7/30/10 - The Dodgers designated reliever Jack Taschner for assignment on Thursday to make room for outfielder Scott Podsednik, leaving Taschner unsure of the next step in his career.

Wilson Valdez (SS - PHI)
7/30/10 - Wilson Valdez came through for the Phillies in the field and at the plate. Valdez, playing for the injured Jimmy Rollins, went 3-5 at the plate with the game-winning single and made several nice plays at shortstop. Valdez is batting .239 with 4 HR's, 23 rbi's and 3 sb's.

7/30/10 - Carlos Ruiz had another multi-hit game Thursday in the Phillies 8th straight win. Ruiz went 2-5 with an rbi and has 7 hits in the last 3 games. Ruiz is batting .286 with 2 HR's and 18 rbi's.

Raul Ibanez (OF - PHI)
7/30/10 - Raul Ibanez extended his hitting streak to 8 games in a big way. Ibanez was only 1-4 but the hit was a solo HR the Phillies needed. Ibanez is batting .263 with 9 HR's, 49 rbi's and 3 sb's.

7/30/10 - Placido Polanco just hits, period! Polanco went 2-5 in the leadoff spot again and has 10 hits in the last 6 games. Polanco is batting .318 with 6 HR's, 32 rbi's and 3 sb's.

7/30/10 - Huston Street (abdomen) was available to pitch in Thursday's game against the Pirates.

7/30/10 - Ubaldo Jimenez limited the Pirates to one earned run over seven innings Thursday as the Rockies grabbed a 9-3 victory.

7/30/10 - Joe Frisaro of MLB.com reports that the Rangers inquired about a possible trade for Marlins ace Josh Johnson this week.

Evan Reed (P - FLA)
7/30/10 - Marlins acquired RHP Evan Reed and RHP Omar Poveda from the Rangers for infielder Jorge Cantu.

Hector Luna (3B - FLA)
7/30/10 - Marlins purchased the contract of INF Hector Luna from Triple-A New Orleans.

Chris Coghlan (OF - FLA)
7/30/10 - According to Joe Capozzi of The Palm Beach Post, Chris Coghlan will shift to third base after he's activated from the disabled list.

Omar Poveda (P - FLA)
7/30/10 - Marlins acquired RHP Omar Poveda and RHP Evan Reed from the Rangers for infielder Jorge Cantu.

Anibal Sanchez (P - FLA)
7/30/10 - Anibal Sanchez fired a complete-game one-hitter on Thursday afternoon to lead the Marlins past the Giants 5-0.

Wilson Ramos (C - WSH)
7/30/10 - The Minnesota Twins traded Ramos and Joe Testa to the Nationals for closer Matt Capps. Ramos was batting .241 for Triple-A Rochester (and .351 over his last 10 games at Triple-A).

Mitch Talbot (P - CLE)
7/30/10 - Talbot left his start in the top of the third inning against the Yankees yesterday with, what the Indians called, a mid-back injury. The team is listing him as day-to-day. He has an MRI scheduled for today.

Jayson Nix (2B - CLE)
7/30/10 - Nix becomes the Indians' starting third baseman (of the day) after the Tribe traded Jhonny Peralta to the Tigers. Nix went 1-for-4 yesterday and is batting .224.

Kerry Wood (P - CLE)
7/30/10 - Wood pitched a scoreless inning for Double-A Akron yesterday. Out since July 11 with a blistered right index finger, he threw eight pitches, all strikes.

Travis Hafner (DH - CLE)
7/30/10 - Hafner did not play yesterday because of shoulder fatigue. He has hit .449 (13-for-29) over his last eight games. In 25 starts since June 11, he has hit .341 with six doubles, four HR, and 11 RBI.

Jon Rauch (P - MIN)
7/30/10 - Rauch changed roles from closer to setup man with the trade of Matt Capps to the Twins. Rauch had a 5.40 ERA in nine appearances this month. He has 21 saves (out of 25 opportunities) on the year.

Delmon Young (OF - MIN)
7/30/10 - In 24 July games, Young is batting .439 with six HR, 28 RBI and a 1.206 OPS rating (on-base plus slugging percentage). He ranks fourth in the AL in batting average (.334) and fourth in RBI (79).

Matt Capps (P - MIN)
7/30/10 - The Twins acquired closer Matt Capps from the Nationals for catcher Wilson Ramos and LHP Joe Testa. Capps has a 2.74 ERA and 1.30 WHIP while converting 26 of 30 save chances this year. Reports indicate that he will become the new Twins' closer and that Jon Rauch will change from closer to setup man.
