3/18/10 - Lyon feels fine in return to the mound. "You don't want to ever give up any runs," Lyon said, "but it's just good to get out there and get the feeling of pitching in a game, and get the adrenaline going and see what you need to do next time to get better."

Wes Hodges (3B - CLE)
3/18/10 - The Forgotten Man: Wes Hodges is making the Indians take notice. He had an RBI single in the first inning and a solo homer in the fourth today. He is batting .391 this spring.

Jason Castro (C - HOU)
3/18/10 - Castro, the Astros' top pick of the 2008 draft and top hitting prospect in the high minors, is not far behind (J.R. Towles). The lefthanded hitter is 7-for-15 (.467) with a double and three walks.

J.R. Towles (C - HOU)
3/18/10 - Towles, 26, has been the Astros' hottest hitter and most pleasant surprise of spring training. He still has to prove himself in the regular season, where he is a .188 hitter, but for now, he's 11-for-20 (.550) with five doubles and a triple.

Matt Holliday (OF - STL)
3/18/10 - Cardinals OF Matt Holliday(notes) still hasn’t swung a bat since injuring his rib cage on March 10. La Russa said he hopes to have Holliday back in the lineup next week. “We’ve got to get him 100 percent, then wait a little longer,” La Russa said

Mat Gamel (3B - MIL)
3/18/10 - Gamel was diagnosed with a "minor tear" in a lat muscle and is expected to miss about 6 weeks. This means he will probably do some rehab in the minors before he's even considered for a roster spot with the parent club.

Roman Colon (P - KC)
3/18/10 - Colon is making a bid to become the primary setup man for the Royals. In leagues where holds count he is a late round flier.

Aaron Crow (P - KC)
3/18/10 - The Royals optioned Crow, their first-round pick in last year’s draft, to Class AA Northwest Arkansas prior to Wednesday’s game. He was oustanding in limited work this Spring and should be owned in dynasty leagues, probably a year a way from making an impact on yearly leagues.

Sean Henn (P - TOR)
3/18/10 - Henn was outrighted to AAA.

Armando Galarraga (P - DET)
3/18/10 - Galarraga was optioned to AAA. He had been competing for the fifth starter's spot in Detroit.

Zech Zinicola (P - WSH)
3/18/10 - Zinicola was returned to the Nationals after being selected by Toronto in the rule V draft last December.

Clay Rapada (P - TEX)
3/18/10 - Rapada was reassigned to the Rangers' minor league camp.

Emerson Frostad (C - TEX)
3/18/10 - Frostad was reassigned to the Rangers' minor league camp.

Zac Phillips (P - TEX)
3/18/10 - Phillips was optioned to AA.

Andrew Bailey (P - OAK)
3/18/10 - Bailey will be shut down for the next 5-7 days with a sore elbow. As of now, he is still expected to be ready for Opening Day.

Fausto Carmona (P - CLE)
3/18/10 - Carmona pitched yesterday and had his second strong spring outing, allowing only two hits over four innings against the Reds. He is making strides toward his All-Star form from 2007. He had struck out three batters in three scoreless innings in his previous start.

Joe Blanton (P - PHI)
3/18/10 - Joe Blanton had another solid outing in his 3rd turn this spring. Blanton allowed 2 ER on 7 hits over 5 innings while striking out 3 for his 2nd win. Blanton lowered his ERA to 4.09 on the spring and looks ready to go.

Domonic Brown (OF - PHI)
3/18/10 - Domonic Brown had a great spring but was re-assigned to minor league camp on Wednesday. Brown showed he is very close to being ready and will be in waiting for either injury or trade. Brown should be drafted and stashed in your minors until he is given his shot.

Ryan Howard (1B - PHI)
3/18/10 - Ryan Howard had another nice game and looks ready for the regular season. Howard went 2-3 with his 6th rbi so far this spring. Howard is batting .344 and looks locked in this so far this spring.

Jayson Werth (OF - PHI)
3/18/10 - Jayson Werth is finding his stroke and looks ready for the regular season. Werth went 2-3 Wednesday versus the Yankees with a go-ahead HR, 3 rbi's and a run scored. Werth is now batting .250 on the spring.

Jimmy Rollins (SS - PHI)
3/18/10 - Jimmy Rollins is rounding into form for the regular season. Rollins went 2-3 Wednesday versus the Yankees with 2 runs scored and his first stolen base. Rollins is batting .273 so far this spring.

Elijah Dukes (OF - FA)
3/18/10 - Dukes was released by the Nationals.

Cliff Lee (P - SEA)
3/18/10 - Lee was suspended for the first five games of the Major League season for throwing at the head of Arizona catcher Chris Snyder intentionally during a spring training game.

Cory Wade (P - LAD)
3/18/10 - Dodgers reliever Cory Wade underwent arthroscopic surgery for his right shoulder Wednesday in Los Angeles. Dr. Neal ElAttrache did a cleanup of the bursa, as well as shaving frayed labrum and rotator cuff tendons. Wade had said the original estimate was a three-month recovery. However, the fact that three areas were involved might indicate a more lengthy and involved recovery.

Octavio Dotel (P - PIT)
3/17/10 - Pirates closer Octavio Dotel (strained oblique) will pitch one inning Thursday in a minor league game at Pirate City. It will be his first outing this spring.

3/17/10 - Outfielder Stefan Gartrell was optioned to Charlotte

Jason Botts (1B - CHW)
3/17/10 - The Chicago White Sox released Jason Botts today

Ramon Castro (C - CHW)
3/17/10 - White Sox backup catcher Ramon Castro was hit by a Russ Ortiz pitch in the top of the fourth inning and exited Wednesday's game with the Dodgers at Camelback Ranch. The Ortiz pitch grazed the top of Castro's helmet.

Dayan Viciedo (3B - CHW)
3/17/10 - Viciedo has been optioned to AAA Charlotte

Daniel Cabrera (P - CHW)
3/17/10 - The White Sox released RHP Daniel Cabrera(21.00 ERA in three appearances) who pitched previously with Baltimore

Brian Bixler (SS - CLE)
3/17/10 - The Tribe designated Brian Bixler for assignment. He had been competing for a bench spot with the Indians. He hit a combined .251 with 3 home runs and 37 RBI for the Mets and Nats last year.

Wladimir Sutil (SS - HOU)
3/17/10 - Sutil was reassigned to minor league camp.

Alex Romero (OF - HOU)
3/17/10 - Romero was given his unconditional release.

3/17/10 - Lance Berkman still hopes to play Opening Day. The 34-year-old first baseman believes it's "still within the realm of possibility" that he can be ready by Opening Day, which for the Astros is April 5 against the Giants.

Justin Germano (P - CLE)
3/17/10 - The Indians signed Germano and he is scheduled to report to minor league camp in ten days. He spent the 2009 season pitching for the Fukuoka Hawks in Japan where he was 5-4 with a 4.38 ERA in 14 starts.

Anderson Hernandez (2B/SS - CLE)
3/17/10 - The Indians claimed Hernandez off waivers from the NY Mets. He batted .251/.312/.339 with three homers and 37 RBI between Washington and New York last season.

Victor Marte (P - KC)
3/17/10 - The Royals optioned right-handed pitcher Victor Marte to Triple-A Omaha on Tuesday. He has no fantasy value.

Cole Hamels (P - PHI)
3/17/10 - Cole Hamels looked solid in his third spring outing and did not allow a HR this time. Hamels limited the Tigers to 2 hits over 5 innings while striking out 4 to earn the win. Hamels has a 1.69 ERA on the spring and looks to be ready for the season to start.

Domonic Brown (OF - PHI)
3/17/10 - Domonic Brown is giving the Phillies something to think about. Brown went 3-3 Tuesday night with 4 rbi's and his first 2 HR's on the spring. Brown is batting .417 with 2 HR's and 8 rbi's on the spring and might just started the season at AAA instead of AA.

Ryan Howard (1B - PHI)
3/17/10 - Ryan Howard had another solid game and found his HR stroke. Howard went 1-2 with 2 rbi's and his first HR of the spring. Howard is now batting .310 on the spring with 1 HR and 5 rbi's.

Steven Johnson (P - BAL)
3/17/10 - Johnson was returned to the Orioles. The Giants had selected him in the rule V draft. He is expected to begin the 2010 at AA.

Cory Wade (P - LAD)
3/17/10 - Dodgers reliever Cory Wade will undergo exploratory shoulder surgery Wednesday and be sidelined at least three months. Wade said he was told by doctors that two recent MRIs confirmed there were no labral or rotator cuff tears. He said his discomfort might be coming from the acromioclavicular joint that links the collarbone with the top of the shoulder. Doctors also will search for any loose bodies in the joint.
