Wow! Just when things were going his way - Mathis breaks his right wrist blocking a ball at the plate. The Angels placed him on the 15-day disabled list with a right wrist fracture. He was batting .324 (11-for-34) with 1 HR and 2 SB. The Angels are planning to not have him for close to two months.

The Angels kept Mathis out of the lineup for the third straight day for Friday's game against the Dodgers. However, Angels' manager Mike Scioscia said that he expects Mathis to play on Saturday. Mathis got hit by a pitch on his left hand in the seventh inning of Tuesday's game. X-rays revealed that he did not suffer a break.
