8/19/10The Cardinals got some much-desired help at third base on Thursday, acquiring veteran Pedro Feliz from the Astros in exchange for Minor League pitcher David Carpenter. In order to make room for Feliz, the Cardinals transferred catcher Jason LaRue to the 60-day disabled list. St. Louis also received cash considerations in the deal for Feliz, a 35-year-old who is making $4.5 million in a one-year deal this season. Feliz, a starter on the Phillies' 2008 World Series championship team, was batting .221 with four homers and 31 RBIs in 97 games for the Astros, for whom he played 15 of his games at first base. He sports the second-best fielding percentage among third basemen since 2007 (.967) and has turned the fourth-most double plays in that span (95). For his 11-year career, Feliz is a .288 hitter at Busch Stadium, which is his third-highest batting average among National League parks.
6/22/10Feliz has lost his starting job at third base with the promotion of Chris Johnson from the minors.
5/27/10Feliz, who had started all but 10 games at third base prior to Thursday, is hitting .207 with two homers and 16 RBIs, including .186 against right-handers. Feliz has posted a higher batting average in May than any other month in his career, but he's hitting .162 so far in May this year.
5/12/10Feliz had his 1,000th career hit in the second inning to break an 0-for-9 slump, and wound up with a multihit game.
4/18/10Feliz's sacrifice fly broke a 2-2 tie and scored Jason Michaels, who started the 10th with a pinch-hit double.
4/07/10Pedro Feliz doubled twice for the Astros, including an RBI hit in the fourth.
4/01/10Feliz to see time at 1B. Pedro Feliz, who signed with the Astros to start at third base, will get some starts at first base against left-handers while Lance Berkman is on the disabled list.
