12/19/24 Detroit Tigers Were Fortunate To Not Commit Long-Term Deal to David Price. Back in 2014, the Detroit Tigers were in the midst of a competitive playoff race in the American League. Looking to improve their chances of making a postseason run, they pulled off a blockbuster trade ahead of the deadline. In a three-team deal that included the Tampa Bay Rays and Seattle Mariners, they landed ace starting pitcher David Price. As part of the deal, Austin Jackson was sent to the Mariners, while Willy Adames and Drew Smyly were traded to the Rays.

11/13/24 What MLB Home Run Champion Saw In Former Red Sox Ace. David Price already pitched into his veteran status by the time he joined the Red Sox on a large free agent deal before the 2016 season. The Red Sox knew that talent from an early age when the original Tampa Bays Rays phenom recorded the final four outs against Boston in Game 7 of the 2008 American League Championship Series.

5/23/24 The Rays have had their number lately, but not this week as Red Sox complete a sweep in Tampa. The Sox hadn't swept a series here since April 2019 when David Price started the final game, Mookie Betts had two hits, and Mitch Moreland homered. Back then, sweeping the Rays was taking care of business for a team that had just won the World Series. The Rays won 11 of 13 against the Sox last season and three of four at Fenway Park last month. The Sox finally punched back this week.

12/20/23 The Only Card The Red Sox Can Afford To Play Next Is An Ace. The Red Sox have repeatedly managed to get some of the best arms in the sport, helping power them to multiple championships. You need high-end, elite pitching to win the World Series, and yet the Red Sox, who are among the worst teams in all of baseball at developing their own high-end, elite pitching, have won more World Series than any other teams over the last 20 years. A magic trick that makes World Series banners appear, but it's all been made possible by one simple fact: The Red Sox are arguably the best team in baseball at importing high-end, elite pitching. Following the colossal acquisitions of David Price and Chris Sale during back-to-back Decembers in 2015 and 2016, and the trade for Nathan Eovaldi to ramp up for the stretch run in 2018, the highly efficient conveyor belt of major moves, ballsy trades, and scorched Earth strategy to ensure the team always had at least some supply of quality, front-end pitching, quietly vanished.

8/11/23 Eduardo Rodriguez happy to visit Fenway Park with Tigers again, will pitch series finale against his former team. “Nobody thought that he was going to be really good in Game 4,” Cora recalled Friday at Fenway Park. With both bullpens incredibly depleted, Rodriguez threw five scoreless innings. Cora believes Rodriguez needs to be mentioned in the same breath as the aces on that championship roster, names like David Price, Rick Porcello, and Chris Sale.

4/06/23 Rockies home opener draws fans both optimistic and cynical. David Price, 86, makes it his mission to get to every Colorado Rockies home opener he can. State of play: Price, who sat near a shaded corner at Coors Field, was among the thousands of fans who arrived early on Thursday, anticipating the Rockies' home opener against the Washington Nationals. Zoom in: The Rockies (3-4) are not expected to win a lot of games this year. Toby Stewart, who was there with his young son initially said the team could exceed expectations.

12/06/22 Tuesday Bird Droppings: The winter meetings are in full swing. Should the Mets return to the postseason, Verlander and Scherzer atop the rotation could make the Mets nearly unbeatable in a short series. Or at least that’s what the pundits will say. But as O’s fans fondly remember, the Orioles faced those two guys — along with fellow Cy Young winner David Price — in the 2014 Division Series and swept them in three games.

10/21/22 Catalyst Of Red Sox's 2018 World Series Run Retires After 11 MLB Seasons. The 108-win, World Series champion Boston Red Sox roster is dropping like flies. Not long after reports arose of David Price's potential impending retirement, utility man Eduardo Núñez -- who was in Boston from the trade deadline of 2017 through 2019 -- retired from Major League Baseball. The 35-year-old has not appeared in a game since July 26, 2020, as a member of the New York Mets but did not officially retire until Thursday.

9/29/22 Dodgers activated Yency Almonte, David Price this week. Before each of the first two games of their series in San Diego, the Dodgers added a pitcher to their bullpen who might help them in the postseason. Price didn’t pitch in either of the first two games at Petco Park, but he was active for the first time since September 3, having missed 22 games with left wrist inflammation.

9/19/22 Prominent Member Of 2018 Red Sox Roster Contemplating Retirement. While the 2018 Red Sox's World Series run is still fresh in the minds of the Boston fanbase, the roster appears to be fading into retirement rapidly. After some shaky reporting by USA Today's Bob Nightengale, the world was convinced that Los Angeles Dodgers pitcher David Price planned to retire following the end of the 2022 season. Price, 37, shut down the notion of his mind being made up already but still left the door open for an offseason retirement.

9/19/22 Dodgers notes: David Price's future, Trayce Thompson having fun, Andrew Friedman. It’s just time” the 37-year-old Price told Nightengale. Everything on my body hurts. It’s worth noting, after 15 years in the majors and a contract that expires at the end of the season, Price has certainly been mulling retirement, and this isn’t exactly new.

David Price was placed on the injured list with left wrist inflammation before Sunday’s series finale against the Padres, clearing the way for Ryan Pepiot to be called up from Triple-A to pitch for the Dodgers. 8/28/22 Tyler Glasnow and Shane McClanahan, MLB's best starting duo?. As pitching-centric as the Rays typically are, as good and as deep and as successful as they have been over past seasons — including having a pair of Cy Young winners in David Price (2012) and Blake Snell (2018) — they could have their best group yet. If you can put together a rotation with multiple aces, I mean, it’s really enticing,” general manager Peter Bendix said. There’s very few teams across baseball that ever get the chance to do that.

8/18/22 Former Red Sox World Series Hero Making Strong Push For Dodgers. Just four years after partaking in a defeat of the Los Angeles Dodgers in the 2018 World Series, one former Boston Red Sox pitcher is making noteworthy strides in elevating LA en route to their 2022 October campaign. David Price, in year 14 of his big league career, has assembled an impressive stretch following the Major League Baseball All-Star break, as a member of the Dodgers. Since July 12 against the St. Louis Cardinals, Price hasn’t allowed a single earned run.
