11/30/21 2021 Player Review: Scott Kazmir. The Scott Kazmir San Francisco Giants Experience in 2021 was, as far as an “experience” goes, a little all over the place. On the one hand, it’s undeniably a feel-good story: A 37 year old journeyman, three time All Star, one time World Series starter, signing a minor league deal after going AWOL for five seasons, before getting called up to the Major Leagues to start meaningful games in September for a team in the heat of a division race. I’d go and watch that movie.

10/21/21 The best games of his career. I will quickly lay out my favorite Eddie moments: Eddie debuts with the Minnesota Twins on May 6, 2015. With his family in the stands, Rosario sees one pitch from A’s starter Scott Kazmir and welcome to the show. Opposite-field home run.

10/01/21 Scott Kazmir goes on Giants' IL, closer Jake McGee not ready to return. I think we would all prefer that Jake enters the game when he can be 100% of himself, whether that be in the next couple of days or at a later date,” Kapler said. I don’t think we can think about anything other than protecting him and the club by not rushing him and making sure that when he goes out there he’s at his best. One NL scout said that he wouldn’t have any major concerns about McGee after missing two-plus weeks.

9/29/21 Scott Kazmir draws start against Arizona, might be pitching for playoff roster spot. Those were the main factors. His changeup has played well, his velocity has been good. He’s been there in the big spots, and (Thursday’s) a big game for us.

9/23/21 Bryant, Posey lead Giants to 8-6 win over fading Friars.

SAN DIEGO (AP) — Scott Kazmir got the San Francisco Giants into a jam and rookie reliever Camilo Doval got them right out of it.

Doval got three huge outs on eight pitches at a pivotal juncture for the Giants, who beat the free-falling San Diego Padres 8-6 Wednesday night to take a two-game lead in the NL West. Kris Bryant hit a bases-clearing double and Buster Posey had four hits and scored three times.

The Giants got some help in their push for their first division title since 2012 when the defending World Series champion Los Angeles Dodgers lost 10-5 at Colorado. The Dodgers have won the division eight straight seasons.

The Giants, whose 99-53 record is the best in the majors, pulled within one win of reaching 100 for the eighth time in franchise history.

The Giants raved about the performance of Doval, a 24-year-old Dominican who relieved Kazmir with the bases loaded, no outs and one run already in during the fifth inning. Doval (4-1) struck out Manny Machado on three straight sliders and then got Tommy Pham to ground into an inning-ending double play.

“We definitely had a little chat right after the half inning in the dugout, just thanking him and basically saying I owe him dinner," Kazmir said. “It's unbelievable. He's got ice in his veins. It's impressive how young he is and still to be able to, in just that big of a moment, to be that composed and be able to make those pitches, especially to Machado to start it off. That was amazing."

Kazmir, a 37-year-old lefty, got through four scoreless innings before getting into a jam that could have swung the game for the Padres. Kazmir opened the fifth by walking Victor Caratini, allowing a single to pinch-hitter Jake Marisnick and walking Fernando Tatis Jr. A catcher interference call against Posey while Jake...

9/22/21 With NL West lead at stake, SF Giants will turn to Scott Kazmir to face Padres. With a 1.0-game lead in the National League West and 11 games left to play, the Giants will turn to a pitcher who has made just two major league starts in the last five years. Giants manager Gabe Kapler announced Tuesday that 37-year-old Scott Kazmir will have his contract selected for the second time this season so he can start Wednesday’s game against the Padres at Petco Park. It’s been a crazy year.

9/21/21 Silver medalist Scott Kazmir to start for Giants on Wednesday. Now the three-time All-Star is starting for the Giants kerplunk in the middle of a heated pennant race. It’s been a crazy year, a very eventful year,” Kazmir said Tuesday. I don't think I've ever would have thought I'd be in this position in January, so it's all good.

7/04/21 Scott Kazmir to play in the Olympics. Hello and happy Sunday. On Friday it was revealed that Scott Kazmir, a left-handed pitcher in the San Francisco Giants organization, would be temporarily leaving his post with the AAA Sacramento River Cats to join Team USA in the Tokyo Olympics. Team USA’s roster is absent MLB stars for a few reasons: the Olympics appear in season (unlike in the NBA); MLB doesn’t take a break for the Olympics (unlike in the WNBA); and international baseball simply isn’t as big of a deal in America as other sports.

6/05/21 Report: LHP Scott Kazmir designated by Giants. Scott Kazmir's comeback, after not pitching in the major leagues for five years, hit a snag Saturday after the left-hander was designated for assignment by the San Francisco Giants, the San Francisco Chronicle reported. After last pitching for the Los Angeles Dodgers in 2016, Kazmir had a turn in independent baseball last year before signing a minor league deal with the Giants this spring. He made his debut for San Francisco on May 22 against the Dodgers, giving up one run over four innings.

6/04/21 Giants' Scott Kazmir back from leave, draws spot start against Cubs. Scott Kazmir will return from personal leave Friday to make a spot start against the Cubs. Kazmir, 37, is making his second start for the Giants after signing with the team as a non-roster invitee at the start of spring training. His May 22 start against the Dodgers was the left-hander’s first appearance in the big leagues in five years, as Kazmir, astonishingly, made his second career comeback.

5/31/21 Giants place LHP Scott Kazmir on restricted list. Scott Kazmir's comeback is on hold for the time being with the San Francisco Giants placing the left-hander on the restricted list Monday. Left-hander Conner Menez was recalled from Triple-A Sacramento. Kazmir, 37, is leaving the team for an unspecified amount of time to attend to "a personal matter at home," according to manager Gabe Kapler.

5/27/21 SF Giants set rotation for Dodgers series, veteran Scott Kazmir changing roles. Nearly five years after making his last appearance on a major league mound, 37-year-old left-hander Scott Kazmir proved he still belonged at the sport’s highest level. With four innings of one-run ball in a start for the Giants on Saturday, Kazmir completed an incredible comeback story and showed he can be an asset for San Francisco moving forward. It was everything I thought it was going to be,” Kazmir said after facing the Dodgers at Oracle Park.
